CMU Dining Hosts 8th Annual Soup Crawl
好色先生TV warmed up a chilly February afternoon with one of its most beloved culinary traditions: the 8th Annual Soup Crawl, held on February 26, 2026. The event, organized by CMU Dining, brought together chefs from across campus for a friendly competition to determine the year’s Best in Show Soup.
More than 500 students received tasting passports and traveled from station to station. Once each soup was sampled, student votes were cast in exchange for a chance to win an XBox.

For many students, the event offered a welcome break from the mid-semester intensity. For the chefs, it was a chance to showcase their creativity and highlight the culinary talent behind CMU’s dining program.
This year’s soup contenders:
- Chartwells Higher Education:
Corn Chowder
Beef Chili
Reuben Soup
Chen’s West Lake Beef Chowder
Butternut Squash Soup
Loaded Baked Potato Soup
- Au Bon Pain:
Tomato Basil Bisque
Chicken & Poblano Pepper Soup
- Elegant Edge Catering Company: Matzo Ball Soup
- The Exchange: Potato Bacon Chowder
- Stak’d Underground: Chicken Curry
- Scotty’s Market: Lentil Soup
In the end the votes were tallied in an incredibly close competition, and CMU Dining is proud to announce and congradulate the 2026 winners:
🥇First Place: Memere's Corn Chowder by Chartwells Executive Chef Tim Howland
🥈Second Place: Scotty's Market's Lentil Soup
🥉Third Place: Au Bon Pain's Chicken & Poblano Pepper Soup
Every soup was thoroughly enjoyed, and the tight voting reflects the creativity and care each of our vendors brought to this friendly campus tradition. CMU Dining also sincerely thanks Breadworks for donating a bountiful bread table full of salt sticks, rolls, focaccia, and more tasty bread products which were enjoyed to the last crumb!
