Automated External Defibrillator
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are devices designed to restore the heart’s normal rhythm in the event of cardiac arrest. AEDs can be found within buildings throughout campus. AED cabinets across campus contain an AED, CPR/AED rescue kit and a STOP THE BLEED kit. Training is not required to use an AED since a recorded voice will provide step by step instructions, however, EHS offers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/AED and STOP THE BLEED training courses.
For more information on AED’s, STOP THE BLEED kits or training contact EHS via safety@andrew.cmu.edu.
