GO STEMgineers visit Clara Barton
In early February, the Gelfand Outreach STEMgineers facilitated an activity for students at Clara Barton Elementary for their STEAM night. Our volunteers led students in a hands-on exercise to build their own straw rockets, learning about aerodynamics and engineering. Students learned about the properties of projectile design that aid in longer, faster flight and applied these principles when designing their rockets. Our STEMgineer leaders discussed the applications of engineering principles in various industries and in their own studies, hoping to cultivate interest in engineering for the next generation. Students had a blast creating their rockets and measuring how far they could launch them at a target. Thanks to all volunteers, parents, and administrators who made this event possible!Picture:
