Research
My research, broadly speaking, studies partial differential equations arising in applied mathematics. My early work provided a probabilistic representation of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations (which are used to describe the evolution of incompressible fluids).
My current interests include global existence questions of PDE's arising in fluid dynamics, mixing of passive scalars, self similar size distributions in the Smoluchowski coagulation equations and the "Q-Tensor" equations for liquid crystals. Another direction of interest is to study homogenization on "intermediate" time scales and the resulting anomalous diffusive effects. While most of my research uses tools from Analysis and PDE, some of it also requires probabilistic techniques.
