Policy & Persuasion
Course Number: 84-301
This skills based class will focus on how to identify policy problems, develop solutions, and build the case for them, for a range of audiences. Students will choose a topic, research it, and learn how to develop succinct, memorable descriptions of policy problems for experts and lay audiences. Students will learn how to develop and edit policy briefings, white papers, op-eds, infographics, action memos, prepare for Congressional testimony, and other short form writing around their chosen topic. The goal of this course is to prepare students to engage in policy discussions both within organizations, and with the broader public debate.
