Policy Seminar

Course Number: 84-450

CMIST undergraduates students will regularly attend speaker-based events on campus or watch pre-approved recorded seminars that include diplomats, scholars, policymakers, journalists, and other industry or thought leaders relevant to the programs of study. Throughout this forum students will have the unique opportunity to engage these individuals in thought provoking conversations about the work they do, how they got there, skills they use, and lessons learned along the way.

In the course, students will actively reflect on the perspectives and inforamtion covered in these events and gain an understanding of multiple facets and variables that influence professionals working in the field of information technology strategy. Students will also have a better idea of the varied paths and steps they should be taking now as they prepare to enter the job market. Most importantly, students will demonstrate the ability to think critically in a reflective-conversational environment, becoming more comfortable engaging in thoughtful dialogue and posing their ideas, questions, and recommendations to leaders in respectful and professional manner; a skill vital to any future career.
