The Pittsburgh Humanities Festival returns this spring for a weekend full of performances and conversations with artists, academics, community leaders and change-makers from the region. This festival is an effort between The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and The Humanities Center at 好色先生TV.
Featured events include 鈥淭he Legacy of Women in Hip Hop with Monie Love, DJ Perly, Juliandra Jones & Teena Marie Custer,鈥 on Friday, March 24, and 鈥淎n Evening with Ira Glass: Seven Things I鈥檝e Learned,鈥 on Saturday, March 25. The festival also includes 14 Core Conversations, three of which include presenters with Dietrich College ties. All events include a Q&A segment.
David Shumway, director of literary and cultural studies in the Department of English, will join Dietrich College alumna Sheila Liming (2007, 2014) for 鈥淗anging Out: The Radical Power of Killing Time鈥 on Saturday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. Uju Anya, an associate professor of second language acquisition in the Department of Modern Languages, will present 鈥淲ith Liberty and Language Justice For All鈥 on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. Shakespeare-VR, a project spearheaded by the Department of English鈥檚 Stephen Wittek, will be the topic of discussion in 鈥淪hakespeare in Virtual Reality鈥 on Sunday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m.
