Abby leads strategy for the college鈥檚 marketing and communications initiatives, and she provides consultation to college leaders, faculty, staff and students. Abby also serves as a liaison to University Marketing and Communications (UCM) and Advancement Communications and Marketing (ACM).

Frequently Asked Questions
The Dietrich College communications team does not charge for our communications services. Photography and video services, which we can help coordinate, may be covered by the Dean's Office, while others will be covered by your department, program or institute.
Yes, the Dietrich College communications team offers consulting services for large-scale projects, including launching a website or social media account, collaborating on event planning and outreach with University Events and University Marketing and Communications, training new communications staff and more.听

When should I contact the communications team?听
At least one month before the article will publish in a scholarly journal; or when your work has progressed to the point that you can share it with the broader community without impacting your ability to publish in a journal later on.听

What should I provide (if available)?听
- Indicate the proposed timeframe for the post (ex. Aug. 10 to 13);
- a 200 character draft post (including spaces) that can be re-crafted for other social media platforms;
- any URLs that point to your work (CMU websites and articles are preferred);
- any hashtags (ex #neuroscience) to support amplifying your work;
- your personal social media handle and the handle for anyone else included in the post;
- any images or video segments (video should be no longer than 90 seconds and should include closed captions if there is any dialogue).听
We also recommend reading the university's social media guidelines to find tips and best practices.
Whether you've already been contacted by the media or want help reaching out, the Dietrich communications team is available to assist you with evaluating opportunities and preparing for interviews.听
We can help you conduct research on the media outlet and reporter, develop two or three key message points, identify content to support your message points (i.e. compelling facts/statistics), navigate answering tough questions, and understand the meaning of "on the record," "on background," and "off the record."听

Emily Nagin is the point person for the weekly Monday Mailer newsletter, which catalogues events and opportunities for Dietrich College students, staff and faculty.听
- To submit an event to the Mailer, add it to the ; there's no need for further action, as any event on the Dietrich Calendar is included in the Mailer.

Newsletter & Year in Review听
The Dietrich College Newsletter runs at the beginning of each month and goes to all Dietrich students, staff, faculty and alumni. If you are a student, faculty or staff member at Dietrich with an accomplishment or story you'd like to share, email Jason Bittel.听
