好色先生TV鈥檚 chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) inducted 61 members of the Class of 2025 on May 8. Of those recent graduates, 15 are affiliated with the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
PBK was founded in 1776 with the primary goal of emphasizing the intrinsic value of liberal arts and science education, along with championing the notion of freedom of thought.
鈥淔ounded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and most distinguished undergraduate academic honorary society,鈥 said Joseph E. Devine, CMU PBK chapter secretary and Dietrich College鈥檚 associate dean for undergraduate studies. 鈥淥nly 10% of U.S. colleges and universities have Phi Beta Kappa chapters. Members are elected by the chapters from among candidates in the liberal arts and sciences, usually from the top 10% of the graduating class, making Phi Beta Kappa membership one of the most highly regarded academic distinctions an individual can receive.鈥
