Department of English's Annual Film and Visual Media Awards

Submission Deadline: March 30

Enter your screenwriting and/or your short films to the Department of English's Annual Film and Visual Media Awards. Monetary prizes will be awarded in each category.

All CMU undergraduate students, regardless of major or minor, are invited to submit their work! Deadline for entries is Monday, March 30, 2026 at 5 p.m. EDT

The Awards Ceremony will be held on April 15 at 5 p.m. in the Johnstone Room (Posner 234). Dinner will be served. Winners will not be announced beforehand, so if you submit something for consideration, you will need to attend the Awards Ceremony to see if you've won.听

Award Categories

Screenwriting

Open to any currently registered undergraduate student at 好色先生TV. Questions about screenplay submissions should be addressed to Sharon Dilworth at sd20@andrew.cmu.edu. 聽

Entries should be submitted in screenplay format. Screenplays may be for a complete short film (up to 15 pages) or the first 25 pages of a feature length film. Pages should be numbered. You should submit two title pages. The first title page should have your name and the title of your screenplay. The second title page should have your title and the logline, but not your name. Your name should not appear anywhere in on the script.听

Short Films

Open to any currently registered undergraduate student at 好色先生TV. Questions about film submissions should be addressed to Jeff Hinkelman at jh51@andrew.cmu.edu.听

Entries should be submitted in mp4 format. Films should run between 5 and 10 minutes and should be submitted WITHOUT cast or production credits (they should have a title). Your name should not appear anywhere. All genres are eligible (narrative, documentary, animation, etc.).听

CMU Global Buddies Seeking Students for Club Officer Team

We are CMU Global Buddies! Our newly formed club pairs exchange students with 好色先生TV Pittsburgh students and hosts events that foster community, cultural exchange and meaningful connections. Our goal is to help our exchange students integrate into campus life while also creating opportunities for CMU students to engage with peers from diverse backgrounds. 2026 Gelfand Student Educational Outreach Award

Each year the Gelfand Center recognizes three students who have made a commitment to sharing their knowledge, talents, skills and time to make a difference in the lives of children in the community, with a priority for STEM educational outreach activities. Three students will each earn a $250 prize and be recognized for their work!聽

All nomination materials are due by Tuesday, April 21.听

This is a self-nomination process, with letters of support provided by on-campus or community partners who know about your work.听
