Henry Armero Memorial Award Applications Open
Application Deadline:听March 30
The Henry Armero Memorial Award is an annual recognition of a CMU student project that focuses on creativity, eclecticism, individuality and inclusiveness. This award hopes to recognize projects that find innovative ways of fostering on- and off-line community. Projects may take any form 鈥 from traditional 2D or 3D art objects to performances, digital art, or unexpected combinations of media 鈥 as long as they engage with the spirit of the award.听
For the first time, the Armero Award is open to all undergraduate CMU students, from any major, as well as to both individual projects and group collaborations. Projects may already be in progress, continued or expanded in scope from prior work to successfully meet the completion deadline. If you鈥檙e wondering if your project fits for the Armero Award, it probably does! !听
The selected project will be exhibited on campus as part of the annual BXA Kaleidoscope Student Showcase in April 2026 and the awardee is expected to attend the event reception.听
Eligibility: Undergraduate students currently enrolled in any college at Carnegie Mellon's Pittsburgh campus听
Award Amount: $2,500听

Small Undergraduate Research Grants (SURG)
Deadline: April 1
The SURG program offers grants for materials and supplies to undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon for research in any field of study. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis on the first of the month. More information can be found on the SURG website.
Cybernetics Prize
Submission Deadline: April 10
For the second year in a row, CMU students are invited to compete for a that tackles from a 辫别谤蝉辫别肠迟颈惫别.听
Cybernetics is a because it forefronts the role of information and purpose in guiding human agency, to respond more effectively to today鈥檚 complex entanglements of natural, technological and social systems. The primary criterion for the award is to increase human agency through design. (.)听
Students whose coursework, thesis project, or personal interests tangle with 鈥渨icked challenges鈥 鈥 or those who have a novel design concept for addressing complex systems 鈥 are well-suited to enter the competition.听
Submissions to the Cybernetics Prize will be accepted until April 10, 2026 via the .听
Entries are invited from any individual CMU student registered for the 2026-2027 academic year, or any team led by a registered student (.)听
The winning entry receives a $5,000 cash prize and all four finalists receive recognition from a panel of judges. The winner and finalists will have their submission added to a new repository of valuable approaches to critically important 21st-century design challenges.听
Summer Internship Experience Fund (SIEF)
Deadline: May 2
The SIEF is available to current undergraduate students who have secured an off-campus, low paying or unpaid internship located in the United States. This needs-based grant aims to help offset expenses incurred during internships. Students can submit applications beginning Feb. 1. Completed applications (students have met with their consultant AND submitted an application) will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until all funding has been awarded. The final deadline for SIEF application submissions is May 2. More Information can be found on the SIEF website with questions directed to the Career and Professional Development Center.
The Peter C. Dozzi Pittsburgh Internship Initiative
Deadline: May 2
This fund is open to current undergraduates who have secured a low-paying or unpaid summer internship within the Pittsburgh region. The application opens on Feb. 1 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The final deadline for applications is May 2. Unpaid Internship Course Tuition Support Program
Deadline: May 15
Any CMU graduate or undergraduate student with a verified, unpaid summer internship and enrolled in a companion, 3 unit, departmental internship or practicum course is eligible to apply for funding to offset a portion of the tuition cost of that course. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a first come, first served basis up to the capacity of available funding. Tuition support is contingent upon completion of the approved unpaid internship and course requirements. This program will provide 1 free unit of credit. .听
Dietrich College Internship Opportunity Grants

Dietrich College encourages its undergraduate students to find and undertake professionally relevant and meaningful internship opportunities. We understand that many of these opportunities are unpaid or, at best, provide minimal compensation. Yet it is often these very positions that provide students with the most meaningful work experiences in helping them define and move forward toward their career goals.
The Dietrich College Internship Opportunity Grant Program makes it more possible for our undergraduate students to take advantage of less remunerative but worthwhile off-campus internship opportunities.

The Dietrich College Study/Travel Abroad Grant Program
Application Deadline: Rolling
Dietrich College has established its Study/Travel Abroad Grant Program to encourage its undergraduate students to consider pursuing meaningful opportunities abroad by making it more financially possible to take advantage of these experiences.听 The program provides support for both traditional study abroad programs, and for non-study abroad experiences such as service learning opportunities, internships, research and conference travel.
Grants are available for both individual students and groups of students who meet the program鈥檚 eligibility requirements.
